Junior undergoes liver shunt surgery

Posted by SusanStokes on June 1, 2015

Junior is one lucky kitty to have so many humans on his side. His caregivers were so grateful for the support they received while campaigning to raise funds for this young cat who needed liver shunt surgery.

Junior’s surgery to place the ameroid ring took place on April 22, 2015. His caregiver posted this on the following day:

“Junior had surgery yesterday. His shunt vessel was unique. It was both extra and intra. Meaning the vessel was both inside and outside of the liver. The team said it was the only time they have ever seen a shunt like that. Junior is congested today but no seizures.”

Following are some photos they shared with me regarding Junior’s recovery from surgery. His next appointment for follow-up will determine whether or not they can begin to wean him off his medications.
